Most ovens these days come with a built-in timer, but not all of them are loud enough to hear from another part of the house. With this portable timer, cooks wont be bound to the kitchen while brownies bake or a vegetable pot pie cooks. This simple timer has a mechanical pointer that winds around the face to count down anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes. The instrument ticks while in use and, when time is up, it sounds a long (about 5 seconds) and loud ring that can be heard while running the shower or over the noise of the clothes dryer. Cooking aside, this gadget is also great for setting time-outs for toddlers. (When the timer rings, kids can come out of their rooms or chairs.) This timer has a large face with easy-to-read numbers and Taylor ensures complete accuracy in its readings through a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde
